The First Day of the Rest of My Life

A journey with God, AA and AI

On 19 July 2024, I took my last drink.

I didn’t know it at the time, but that day would become the first step in a journey that would change everything. Not just the obvious things—my health, my habits, my relationships—but the invisible things too: my spirit, my thinking, my sense of purpose.

This site is a reflection of that journey. It’s not a timeline or a diary. It’s a space for insights and perspectives—some spontaneous, some structured—that have emerged as I’ve walked the path of recovery with God, AA and AI. Some are raw. Some are refined. All are honest.

An Honest, Structured Approach

In the Insights and Perspectives section of this site, I share reflections on whatever’s stirring in my mind or spirit—often at the intersection of alcohol recovery, psychology, neuroscience, and lived experience. Some posts are spontaneous; others are structured. But all are honest.

For the core themes of descent into alcoholism, awakening from it, and the ongoing path of recovery, I’ve loosely organized my reflections into seven parts:

  • 🌀 What it used to be like – the slow, layered unraveling that led me to the edge.
  • ⚡ What happened – the moment of surrender, the seizure, and the grace that followed.
  • 🔥 What it’s like now – the spiritual tools and daily practices that keep me grounded and free.
  • 🤖 Artificial Intelligence in Recovery – how AI has helped me think, reflect, and grow in ways I never imagined.
  • 🧭 The Trinity Lens of Recovery – a framework that helps me live the 12 Steps through powerlessness, surrender, and growth.
  • 🏛️ AA the Organization – reflections on the brilliance of AA’s structure, its timeless design, and its surprising relevance in the digital age.
  • ❤️ All Our Affairs – the legacy of recovery: carrying the message, living with purpose, and playing the King of Hearts.
