Announcement: Appointment to the Finance Council of Launceston Catholic Parish

Jason Bresnehan has been appointed as a Council Member on the Finance Council of Launceston Catholic Parish, a parish of the Catholic Church of Tasmania faithfully governed by the Archdiocese of Hobart.

About the Finance Council
The Finance Council plays a vital role in advising the Parish Priest on all matters of financial stewardship. This includes oversight of the parish’s religious and commercial assets, notably the city’s iconic Church of the Apostles.

The appointment is made in accordance with Canon Law, specifically Canon 537 of the Code of Canon Law, which states:

“In each parish there is to be a finance council which is regulated by universal law as well as by norms issued by the diocesan bishop; in this council the Christian faithful, selected according to the same norms, are to assist the pastor in the administration of the goods of the parish.”

Jason’s Contribution
Jason brings over 35 years of commercial experience to the Council, having served as a founder, C-Suite executive, venture capitalist, adviser, and consultant across diverse sectors including technology and manufacturing in Australia, the USA, and Thailand.

Beyond his commercial expertise, Jason offers a pastoral lens shaped by his work in addiction prevention and recovery. His recently published book, A Catholic Gospel Journey Through the Lens of Alcohol Recovery, reflects his commitment to integrating faith, stewardship, and lived experience.
