Act Like the CEO of YoL
As my recovery writing evolved, I realised I was blending two forces: a spiritual fix and a business‑principles fix. Out of that came a simple doctrine — act like you are the CEO of YoL.
YoL meaning Your Own Life.
If you wake up each morning with the mindset that you’re responsible for gathering and directing resources toward your long‑term mission — or even just the sub‑mission for that day — everything changes. You stop drifting. You start leading.
Thinking like the CEO of a company called YoL creates a healthy separation between you and your life.
You become the navigator, the steward, the shepherd — rather than the passenger.
And once you adopt that posture, it doesn’t magically “transform” you.
What it actually does is force you into rational, strategic decision‑making:
• where to improve
• what to overcome
• which opportunities to leverage
• which threats to mitigate
You start seeing yourself the way a strategist sees a chess piece — not in a dehumanising way, but in a clear, tactical, self‑aware way.
You stop reacting.
You start positioning.
That’s the real power of being the CEO of YoL.
